Thanksgiving is a great holiday, but it’s one of my least favorites. I very much love spending time with all of my family, but I don’t like turkey… and the holiday itself is called Turkey Day!!! I would much rather have ham at Thanksgiving and have it be called Ham Day. However, in the end, I just eat a lot of mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. It always seems to be rainy too, which makes for rough travels and no outside enjoyment! I love the fall colors during Thanksgiving, but the majority of the beauteous trees have already faded for the season, or they just lost their leaves completely. Thanksgiving also always seems to be mayhem with all the food, family, and football. Everyone is talking at once in a crowded house and sometimes it seems unbearable, but then I am reminded of all the loving souls in the room with me. I am instantly reassured of calmness and comfort. Additionally, the preparation for the holiday intensifies my anxiety, along with many others, I would assume. The endless meal planning, meal making, the setting up, the cleaning, the constant addition to the existing plans…it’s chaos. However, it is all completely worth it to be able to spend Thanksgiving with your family and friends, and appreciate them by bonding over an extreme meal. You may have heard of people disliking Christmas, but I have never met another who disliked Thanksgiving in the way I do. I love my family more than life itself, just not Thanksgiving.
