Back to School

Fall is my favorite season and especially with the weather lately, it feels as if autumn is upon us! This means the beginning of another year of school… but one closer to graduating! On another note though, school really isn’t that awful. School is purely meant to prepare you for the “real world” as we’re starting to get jobs and such. Sure, it sucks to get up so early every day and classes are often boring or difficult, but it will all be worth it in the end. Don’t drop out! You’ll regret it. Without high school, you won’t be able to be anything you wish or attend your dream college. You will most likely get stuck with a job you don’t like. However, if you work hard in school, it will pay off! You will do well on your SATs and in all of your classes, you will have options for college or whatever you want to do after high school graduation. Your dreams truly can become reality through these four, very hard years.
Additionally, it seems so crazy, but you will miss these times. Whether it is your four year sport that means the world to you now, or your Friday nights spent cheering crazily for the varsity football team. Soon, all these great times will be just a part of the past. Think of all the amazing things you have gotten to experience throughout school. All the people you got the opportunity to meet, all the teachers that impacted you, and even the classes and what they’ve taught you outside of school material. It’s incredible to think that high school really is a once in a lifetime chance to make some really great memories that will last forever, especially when you’re stuck thinking about how much school sucks and dreading it every day.
This school year, I ask one thing of everyone of you. When you’re sitting in a class staring at the wall, “listening” to a teacher’s monotone voice, think about how different your life would be right now if you didn’t attend high school. All the opportunities you would have missed out on, all the people you would have never got to know. Even though school has a downside to it, just enjoy it. Enjoy being young and crazy. Enjoy your friends. Be grateful you have this experience.
