Excerpt two

 Jacob pushed his sister into the living room, “Go ask her.”

 Sierra backed into the hallway, “No, she’s busy. You go ask her.”

 They pushed each other back and forth a couple of times before Sierra gave in.

 “Fine, I’ll do it!”

 Sierra poked her head into the livingroom, “Hey Mom …”

 “Just a minute, let me finish this sentence,” Mom replied. “That’s perfect, now what can I do for you?”

 “Can we go to Grandma Addy’s?  Pleeeeease!” she asked, looking as sweet as possible.

 “Yeah, Mom, please,” Jacob chimed in.

 “Well, since you asked so nicely, I’ll give her a call.  Maybe we can go there next weekend,” she said.

  “Next weekend! But that’s eight whole days away,” Jacob exclaimed.

 Mom smiled, “Be glad I didn’t say next month. That might actually work better for me.”

 Sierra put her hand over Jacob’s mouth before he could argue with Mom again. “Next weekend sounds great Mom, thanks,” she said as she pulled Jacob from the room.
